Yesterday, I took to my stories asking my followers (vendors + clients) to weigh in. I asked everyone to classify what they believed each “category” of weddings fit into and what the proper guest count should be for each and here is what everyone had to say.
Elopement – 69% believe a true elopement should just be the two of you. So you + your boo. That’s it! 28% believe that 1-5 guests are acceptable.
Mini-Mony – 78% say 5-10 guests are normal and the other 20% of voters said 10-25 guests.
Micro Wedding – 73% say 25-35 guests and 22% say 25-50 I def think that micro weddings have become more popular after the pandemic. I would agree that this is a proper wedding classification as most weddings “these days” are much smaller than what we previously saw in years past. Many things factor into this, not just a pandemic!
Wedding – 74% say that 50-100 guests is a full-blown wedding and 26% said 100+. Again, going to side with the numbers here and say 50-100 guests is the new average for any of my couples who have a 6-8 hour wedding.
The question was asked/raised because I’ve seen an increase number of people trying to classify their wedding/celebration as an elopement because it is a “destination” wedding but then want to have 20+ guests join them in a chapel and this is just not the case in my books, so I’m glad the internet agrees!
